
Social networking is all the rage: Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Plaxo and dozens, perhaps hundreds of others. Millions of adults, young and old, are keeping track of friends’ and families’ accomplishments, achievements and activities, sharing everything from successes to recipes.

"No one else is going to promote your paper," said Robert Williams, co-publisher of The Blackshear (GA) Times. "These ads are so you can let advertisers know how much better a newspaper—yours in particular—is when it comes to reaching the people who will buy their products and services."

American Profile has created a series of ads promoting community newspapers based on NNA's 2007 market research. These ads are available for NNA members to download and use to promote their own community newspapers.

The Kansas Press Association has developed a series of customizable ads promoting community newspapers that NNA members can download from its website.

The Minnesota Newspaper Association has made the entries in its 2009 promotional house ad contest available for use.

The Missouri Press Association has produced a series of print ads newspapers can use to promote themselves.

NewspaperProject.org produces a series of print ads newspapers can use to promote themselves. Select the Ads tab at the top of the website.

The Philadelphia Newspapers group has created four new ads to promote the value of newspapers. The new campaign promotes the theme: "Newspapers. The Savings Medium." and is available for downloading at newspaperproject.org.

NNA has developed an ad based on a design created by the Missouri Press Association to support its Newspaper In Education program. You may want to develop your own ads using photographs of local children enjoying your newspaper.
