Help the staff of the Joplin Globe

Dear NNA members,

Many friends in our newspaper community have lost their homes in the Joplin, MO, tornado. Police say there are 116 fatalities and that number is likely to rise. CNHI-owned Joplin Globe reports its homeless employees have shown up to work to report on the disaster.

The following relief information for the newspaper people was posted today by Doug Crews, executive director of Missouri Press Association. We thought you would like to be aware of the opportunity to help.

In an effort to assist Missouri newspaper employees affected by the May 22 Joplin tornado, the Missouri Press Association has established a disaster fund within the Missouri Press Foundation.

Reports have been received that the homes of at least 25 Joplin Globe employees were heavily damaged or destroyed.

Tax-deductible donations may be sent to the Missouri Press Foundation, 802 Locust Street, Columbia, MO 65201.

The Missouri Press Foundation board of directors will oversee 100 percent distribution of the funds. The Foundation, chartered in 1984, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
