Chris (Mudge) Monroe worked for the Iowa Newspaper Association from 1982 to 2016. She succeeded her husband, Bill Monroe, as INA executive director in 2009, serving in that role until her 2016 retirement. Chris died March 7 after battling metastatic breast cancer. Her successor as INA executive director, Susan Patterson Plank, spoke about Chris’ career and her life at a memorial service in Des Moines May 10.
Kevin M. Jones, a 31-year employee of the St. Louis American and for many years its chief operating officer, has passed away.
Robert Berglund, former publisher of the (Loyal) Tribune Record Gleaner and member of the Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame, died on Saturday, Dec. 30. He was 93.
Mitchell, the publisher and editor of the Point Reyes (California) Light for 27 years, died in his Point Reyes Station home on Oct. 26.
